SHOWCASE PRESENTED TO FIFA, QATAR
On 14 September, the Arup Associates’ designed Showcase was presented by Mike Beavenand His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to the FIFA Inspection Team, as a key part of Qatar’s bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Showcase was constructed in just 4 months and comprises a five-a-side football pitch in a mini-stadium with opening roof and walls with natural ventilation and displacement air conditioning potential. The Showcase’s passive design, pvs for electricity generation and absorption cooling using the sun’s heat, give a world-first carbon zero exemplar and development facility.
